The course consists of 48 classes of 4 hours.
The classes are held 3 times per week on school premises, and every class is divided into theoretical and practical parts. This is an intensive course that lasts for 4 months, during which the material is covered carefully and in detail. Candidates will receive additional assignments for homework and we expect these are completed in a timely manner.
We start the course with an introduction to the Autodesk Maya program and during classes we go through all the necessary tools for modeling simple and more complex surfaces. The goal is to learn how to approach making complex surfaces with proper topology.
ZBrush is the next program we explore. Here candidates will learn how to add the smallest details to models made in Maya and also determine which models are better to produce in Zbrush from the start. The goal is to introduce candidates to Zbrush and to essential tools for sculpting.
Low Poly and Mid Poly models are optimized High Poly models ready for Game Engines. Candidates will learn the difference between Low Poly and Mid Poly models, when to use each one, their advantages and disadvantages, how to develop UV Maps and also how to modify Smoothing groups correctly.
Bake is the process of making Normal and AO Maps, which serve to recover all lost details which disappeared while optimizing models from High Poly model to Low Poly models.
Texturing is a process of painting and adding materials to models. Candidates work in Substance Painter where they learn about spec/gloss and metal/rough workflows. Candidates will learn the attributes of each and how to use them correctly for achieving desired results.
At the end of the course, every candidate will have 5 game models made from scratch that they can use for their personal portfolio. Every candidate will learn how to render and present their work in the best way possible. The better the presentation, the nicer their portfolio will look and that is a key factor in landing job offers in this industry.
