Updated statistics March 2025

There are two ways to learn with us, by diving straight into the ENTIRE COURSE, or taking it step by step with INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS.

OPTION A - ENTIRE COURSE

By opting for the entire course, you not only receive a discount but also bonus lessons.
Even though you purchased the entire course, each lesson, exercise, and section will be unlocked after submitting the obligatory designated deliverables.
This is to ensure that the student fully understands the topics discussed and that the quality of their work meets the required standards

OPTION B - INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS

This course structure allows flexibility and less commitment regarding your time and schedule,
giving you an option to fully focus on an individual section, one step at a time
All exercises can be purchased separately unless otherwise specified. If you’re new to environment art, we highly recommend starting with the introductory lessons before jumping into the more advanced environments.

INTERNSHIPS

The best students may get an internship offer* at Art Bully Productions. During three months, they will have an opportunity to work on internal ABP projects or
client AA / AAA games, depending on the studio’s schedule at the given moment. The internship’s workload is spread across eight hours per workday.
After the three-month evaluation, a selected few may be considered to join the Art Bully team as full-time employees and propel their careers to new heights!

*except the BULLY Course plan, where the internship is guaranteed

Course Description

A practical, project-driven introduction to building immersive environments in Unreal Engine 5. If you want to become an Environment Artist, there’s no better way to learn than by creating real projects. This course guides you through a series of focused exercises, each designed to teach the skills and workflows used in the games industry— from modular design and material creation to lighting, set dressing, and final presentation.

Bridge – Get started with the fundamentals of modular environment work.
You’ll build a reusable set of bridge pieces, work with tiling and trim textures, and learn how to introduce natural variation using vertex painting inside Unreal Engine 5.
A simple but solid introduction to modular thinking and efficient asset production.

Playground – In this project, you’ll create a modular playground and create materials for it by using a layered material system in Unreal Engine.
You’ll combine tiling materials with simple masks made in Substance Painter to achieve clean and flexible results.
It’s a great exercise to strengthen your understanding of materials and how to keep your environments scalable.

Well – Here you’ll create a detailed well designed for Nanite in Unreal Engine 5.
You’ll texture it directly in the engine using tiling textures and a layered material workflow, learning how to set up assets that hold up both in close-ups and gameplay views.

A complete environment from start to finish. You’ll build a modular corridor in Unreal Engine—starting with the blockout and moving through asset creation, materials, vertex painting, custom masks, decals, set dressing, and lighting. By the end, you’ll have a polished scene ready to showcase in your portfolio.
In this exercise, you’ll design a modular abandoned school environment. You’ll create the building modules, build all materials inside the engine using vertex paint, and add foliage, set dressing, and basic lighting to bring the space to life. A strong addition to any environment art portfolio.
Expand the well you created earlier by placing it in a natural forest setting. You’ll work with terrain sculpting, tree and foliage placement, atmosphere, and composition to create a small but compelling environment shot. Perfect for artists who want to learn how to integrate props into a fully realized scene.

*Important note: Even though the course outline includes creating one personal asset, if the student works through all planned lessons and exercises at an increased pace, and manages to complete all the appointed assets, they are welcome to start a second personal asset with the assistance of their mentor. The course doesn’t stop when all assets are created; it stops when all designated consultations are utilized.

MORE ON HOW IT WORKS

Once you purchase the whole course, or one of the sections, you will unlock the first lesson of the course, and the first practice session. Once you complete the first lesson, and the first practice session, your work will be scheduled for an online check-in with one of our online tutors. Within the next 24 hours you will get approval, and/or feedback, so you can move on. The response time will usually be prompt, but it could vary depending on your location and time zone, but should never exceed 24 hours reply time.

With the approval, your next lesson, and next practice session will be automatically unlocked, and you will be able to move on onto the next one.
This is how the progress will work throughout the remainder of the course.

•The lessons are pre-recorded, they are not live sessions.
You can watch and re-watch them at your own desired time, and you can proceed at your preferred pace.

•Your designated mentor will follow you throughout the whole course.
They will be there for you, to answer all questions that you may have regarding the lessons, the practice tasks and any feedback you received.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out office@artbully-school.com.
We will be more than happy to schedule a live online info session over Discord.
